Je suis en troisième année du double cursus ingénieur-architecte à l’INSA Lyon et à l’ENSA Lyon. J’aime comprendre comment les choses tiennent, mais aussi ce qu’elles nous font ressentir. Selon les projets, cela donne une table qui sort de son cadre, un lieu pour dormir ou un monument dont la stabilité est franchement discutable. Le calcul et l’intuition ont chacun leur mot à dire ; je préfère les faire travailler ensemble.

I’m in the third year of the engineering and architecture dual programme at INSA Lyon and ENSA Lyon. I like understanding how things stand up, but also how they make us feel. Depending on the project, that might mean a table emerging from its frame, a place to sleep, or a monument with frankly questionable stability. Calculation and intuition both have something to say; I prefer to let them work together.

Le théâtre occupe une vraie place dans ce parcours. Après plus de dix ans de pratique, je poursuis depuis quatre ans le cursus art-études théâtre de l’INSA, un second parcours diplômant au sein de l’école. Nous créons des spectacles comme comédiens, sous la direction de metteurs en scène professionnels. Le travail au plateau s’accompagne d’apports théoriques sur le jeu, le théâtre, la scénographie et la lumière. On apprend à être présent, à écouter et à faire avec les autres. Et à recommencer, assez souvent.

Theatre is a substantial part of this journey. Following more than ten years of practice, I have spent the past four years in INSA’s art-études theatre programme, a second qualification pathway within the school. We create performances as actors, directed by professional theatre-makers. Rehearsals sit alongside theoretical work on acting, theatre, set design and lighting. We learn to be present, to listen and to work with others. And, quite often, to start again.

Entre la scène et l’architecture, je retrouve une même attention à l’espace, aux corps et à ce qui se passe entre eux. La création avance par allers-retours : une idée se teste, résiste, se transforme. Elle continue d’évoluer jusqu’au bout. L’émotion m’intéresse comme un indice de justesse, à confronter à des connaissances et à des contraintes concrètes. Un espace peut être rigoureusement conçu et nous toucher ; c’est précisément cette rencontre que je cherche.

In both theatre and architecture, I find the same attention to space, bodies and what happens between them. Creation moves back and forth: an idea is tested, meets resistance and changes. It keeps evolving until the end. Emotion interests me as a sign that something rings true, to be tested against knowledge and tangible constraints. A space can be rigorously designed and move us; that is exactly the meeting point I’m looking for.

Les prochaines étapes sont le stage de fin d’études en ingénierie et l’entrée en master d’architecture l’année prochaine. Je souhaite poursuivre ce master en travaillant à temps partiel comme ingénieur, pour faire dialoguer les deux pratiques au quotidien. Garder les deux casquettes, donc, et continuer à passer de l’une à l’autre.

Next come my final engineering internship and, next year, a master’s in architecture. I intend to study for that master’s while working part-time as an engineer, bringing both practices into everyday conversation. Keeping both hats, then, and continuing to move between them.
