Build a museum around Roman ruins discovered beside a lake.
Le projet met en relation deux présences : la monumentalité de la masse construite et l’horizon du lac. Des murs très épais protègent les fouilles, organisent la lumière diffuse et deviennent eux-mêmes des espaces d’exposition. Leur profondeur accueille les œuvres et les circulations, tandis que les ouvertures maintiennent une relation constante avec le site. La contrainte constructive devient ainsi le principe spatial du musée.
The project brings together two presences: the monumentality of the built mass and the horizon of the lake. Very thick walls protect the excavations, organise diffuse light and become exhibition spaces themselves. Their depth accommodates artworks and circulation, while openings maintain a constant relationship with the site. The constructive constraint thus becomes the museum’s spatial principle.
